The ALS clinic at St. Olav’s University hospital in Trondheim covers a population of 455.000 inhabitants and have approximately 30 ALS patients at any given time. We have built a well-functioning clinical team and established regional standards for patient follow-up.
Our new research centre intends to build on three pillars. First, we have ongoing research on advanced in vitro modeling of patient-derived neural network function. Second, we plan to do population-based research on material from the Nord-Trøndelag Health Study (www.ntnu.edu/hunt), and third, we are struggling to establish a national ALS registry in a joint effort with the other Norwegian ENCALS sites
